Caleb Ewan Looks To Tour 2018

Caleb Ewan gains his first stage win in Giro d’Italia after which he is hoping to repeat his run of success in Tour de France. However, it would be the 2018 event that he would be working on, being a sprinter of Orica-Scott team.


Having secured a win in the seventh stage of the Giro d’Italia, Caleb Ewan says that he dreams of taking to the Grand Tour race of Tour de France. Being 22 years of age and hailing from Australia, he was exuberant about his win. He stated that every cyclist dreams of working towards the Grand Tour and that is something he hopes to win in 2018.

He knows that he is yet to reach the best of his potential and hence there is a lot that he needs to work towards. However the win in the Giro was helpful in bolstering his confidence. He knows that this is a work in progress and is hopeful that by next year he would be a sprinter capable of taking on the other best competitors in the Grand Tour.

THOMAS ANNOUNCES INTENTIONS TOWARDS GRAND TOUR

It is the hope of Geraint Thomas that he would be able to build a Girod’Italia title as he looks forward to sharpen his time trialing prowess. This move is in line with his intention to target and secure a first Grand Tour podium place.


Announcing his intention, the two-time team pursuit Olympic champion will be skipping the spring classics. This is to enable him give a shot at the Giro.

Thomas has led the plans of Team Sky at theBelgian classics and the early-season Monuments in previous seasons. However, he switched focus up to stage racing where he helped Chris Froome win the Tour de France on three different occasions.

In the past two seasons, he has been able to achieve a best finish position of 15th at the Le Tour. Observers who followed his performance at La Grande Boucle were left thinking that he had a fair shot at a Grand Tour podium. Read more »

THOMAS SPEAKS ON HIS 2016 EXPERINCE

Geraint Thomas has had a year filled with so many victories, starting from his win in Paris-Nice and Volta ao Algarve. 2016 has been the most successful year throughout his career.


Thomas (Team Sky) claimed his biggest victory earlier this year in Paris-Nice stage race and won the Volta ao Algarve for the second time. However it was not all smooth for him as he suffered crashes at the Tour de France and the Olympic Games.

The Welshman wrote about his mixed fortune on a blog post on the Protect Your Bubbles Insurance website:

“This year went well, all in all. I had the biggest win of my career with Paris-Nice and defended my Algarve title which I won in 2015. It wasn’t all plain sailing.”

Thomas experience a season characterized with many ups and down. He suffered a crashed during Milan-San Remo, and entered the Tour of Flanders after what he described as a ‘tough couple of weeks,’ finishing 12th in Flanders.

Thomas performance dropped at the Tour de Suisse, after he suffered a cold in June. His health condition affected preparations for the Tour de France in July. All hopes of finishing the Tour at the top were tarnished when he suffered an early crash. Read more »

Geraint Thomas Declared Sky Leader For E3 Harelbeke

Geraint Thomas would be reportedly leading Sky for E3 Harelbeke. The Classics cobbled campaign is scheduled to start from 27th of March & would be running across Paris-Roubaix on 12th April.

“Geraint would be leading Sky this Friday”, stated Servais Knaven, the Team Sky Sports Director.

“He is fantastic shape at present, that was evident from his great performance in Algarve, Paris-Nice & in San Remo. It’s going to be a huge hit for Thomas in classics.”

The race would be covering around 215.3 kms & would include several cobbled areas & climbs prior to its conclusion in the main square of Harelbeke.

Before the heavy downpour on Thursday, Geraint & his Sky mates previewed last 70 kms of the race yet skipped the hard Paterberg & Kwaremont climbs.

Thomas started the 2014 season with grand style, winning the Volta Algarve overall & riding high in the Paris-Nice championship in spite of his “stupid crash” & spearheaded Milan-San Remo  in closing stage over Poggio.

“I am hopeful to channelize this form in a positive way”, stated Thomas.”Hopefully we will be able to come up with something in upcoming 3 weeks.”

According to Knaven, Thomas is pretty light & climbing with best efforts yet he is a classics rider still. Read more »

Tour France Champ Sticks By Astana

Reigning Tour France champ Vincenzo Nibali has stressed that won’t be leaving his team in spite of continuous doping allegations that have hit the Astana World Tour & Continental teams over the last few months this year.

Once again, Vincenzo lashed out at Valentin & Maxim Iglinskiy, the brother duo on his world Tour squad who came positive for consuming banned performance enhancing drugs last summer & the 3 cyclists in Astana Continental who failed in abnabolic steroid tests.

All total there have been 5 doping disclosures from Astana this year which is definitely a huge blow to the reputation of any sports team. Such a scandalous stance has put the Kazak team’s World Tour status under question leading to serious scanning from UCI. UCI License Commission has been asked the previous month to “undergo a comprehensive review on Astana Pro anti-doping & management policies.” Read more »
