Geraint Thomas Declared Sky Leader For E3 Harelbeke

Geraint Thomas would be reportedly leading Sky for E3 Harelbeke. The Classics cobbled campaign is scheduled to start from 27th of March & would be running across Paris-Roubaix on 12th April.

“Geraint would be leading Sky this Friday”, stated Servais Knaven, the Team Sky Sports Director.

“He is fantastic shape at present, that was evident from his great performance in Algarve, Paris-Nice & in San Remo. It’s going to be a huge hit for Thomas in classics.”

The race would be covering around 215.3 kms & would include several cobbled areas & climbs prior to its conclusion in the main square of Harelbeke.

Before the heavy downpour on Thursday, Geraint & his Sky mates previewed last 70 kms of the race yet skipped the hard Paterberg & Kwaremont climbs.

Thomas started the 2014 season with grand style, winning the Volta Algarve overall & riding high in the Paris-Nice championship in spite of his “stupid crash” & spearheaded Milan-San Remo  in closing stage over Poggio.

“I am hopeful to channelize this form in a positive way”, stated Thomas.”Hopefully we will be able to come up with something in upcoming 3 weeks.”

According to Knaven, Thomas is pretty light & climbing with best efforts yet he is a classics rider still.

“Thomas’ weight is good enough for classics. He is tall & his fantastic height offers him great chances with the climbs. Geraint can climb & has the needed power”, remarked Knaven.

“It was his aim to make it big at Paris-Nice event but at present his focus is on Flanders. He is lookimg forward to triumph at one among the Flanders’ races which would be starting on 27th with Harelbeke.”

Elia Viviani, the Italian rider who has replaced Wiggins would be leading in Ghent-Wevelgem.
