Geraint Thomas becomes Overall Winner In 2015 Volta ao Algrave

Geraint Thomas, the 28 years old welsh professional cyclist became the overall winner of Volta ao Algrave this year. This victory is sure to increase the confidence of the Welsh cyclist. Geraint Thomas will take part in competitions this spring and he will also be participating in the classics races this year.

Geraint Thomas became the winner of Volta ao Algrave on Sunday, 22nd February. Andre Greipel, the 32 years old German cyclist who rides for the Belgian professional cycling team Lotto Soudal became the winner of the last day’s sprint but Thomas managed to win the yellow jersey which is awarded to the champion of the overall category. In Portugal, Thomas managed to perform in a splendid manner.

In the second stage of the race, Geraint Thomas became the winner of the solo race and a day after that, he became the champion in the Individual Time Trial category. The stage of the race that took place on the next day was won by Richie Porte, 30 years old Australian Professional Cyclist who rides for the British Team Sky. Thomas said that the Australian Cyclist had the leading position before the race but in spite of that he decided to take a chance and finally he was able to secure for himself the title of the overall leader of the race. Thomas said that everything went smoothly.

On the official website of Team Sky, Geraint Thomas wrote that this competition was great for his team. His team managed to become the winner of two stages in the race. Winning the mountains jersey and the overall leader’s jersey was also great for the team. Thomas will take part in the Paris Nice race which is held in March every year. In the previous year’s edition of the race, Thomas was the leader but he suffered a crash two days before the race would end and had to quit.
